Wiltshire Woodman is a family business based around a mobile wood milling service, using an alaskan mill with a chainsaw. What is not only unique but highly practical is the ability to mill anywhere from a roadside edge to a mountainside, without having to move the tree. This is far more environmentally sound than low loading timber out to a sawmill. We mill on site, anywhere with minimum impact to the local ecosystem. This business is based on being environmentally and ethically sound. We take a felled tree (windblown or deliberate) and process everything from the main trunk to the branches, making mulch, firewood and usable timber.
Using a rail system, the mill cuts vertically to either edge larger pieces or for cutting beams.
This oak had been down for a while and although the first 3 inches all around was rotten, the beauty was inside! The picture below is what this was under the bark.

This banquet table at ‘The Pear Tree Inn, Whitley’ was one of the first major jobs. Nearly 9 metres long, this seats large outdoor parties at this fantastic venue.
Butterfly joints stop a natural split continuing as the wood settles.
